Immersed in a Virtual World

Everyone is connected. Connected to their friends, email, TV shows and whatever else the internet has to offer. Only when the computer is shut down, do people experience reality. What if the computer was never shut off and was constantly in front of you? Many companies are competing with Google's new Google Glass with specialized versions of this immersive fashion statement. People will never have to disconnect from their artificial world; therefore, will they ever connect to the real one? It is a slippery slope, but I hope that people will use this new trend to their advantage when they need it and still engage in the physical world, but, like most new things, only time will tell.

  1. There was a recent article about the slowing birth rate in Japan. People there rather spend time working than dating, and in their leisure they rather watch Hulu than raise kids. Why bother raising crying babies when you can just enjoy life? If you never have to disconnect from artificial happiness then you never have to worry about what's missing in your real life. It'd be a really terrible day if the internet ever went out though.
